2.1 Igniting the Flame

- Remove old flint: Carefully remove the remaining piece of old flint (if any) and the flint spring.
- Insert new flint: Drop a new flint into the empty flint tube.
- Reinsert spring: Replace the flint spring and screw it back in until tight. Do not overtighten.
- Test: Reinsert the unit into the case and test for sparks.
3.3 Replacing the Wick
If the wick is black or frayed, it may need to be trimmed or replaced. A new wick should be white.
- Remove the insert: Pull the insert out of the case.
- Remove felt pad and packing: Lift the felt pad and remove all the packing material.
- Pull out wick: Using tweezers, gently pull the wick up through the chimney until a clean, white section is visible. Trim the black portion.
- Replace wick (if necessary): If the wick is too short, remove it completely and thread a new wick through the chimney from the top, using tweezers.
- Weave the wick: Weave the wick through the packing material in a serpentine pattern to ensure maximum fluid absorption.
